MICHELE DANTINI

more / + далее

Michele Dantini’s work is about care and carelessness. interested in projects characterised by transcultural practices and social/environmental implications, the artist develops travels and residencies abroad as narrative performances. often conceived for places without representation, his projects do not offer “objective” analyses or perfunctory answers. The cues typically come from a discovery, an oscillation between perplexity and fascination. a space crisscrossed by potential narrations of displacement and solitude, an object, a name, a fragment of a story, all become figures in a wider reflection on relations between power and violence, narratives and places.
The reconstruction of a context is intimately connected to the exploration of states of mind, interior landscapes, spheres of experience, and the production of images is interwoven with the practice of the travelogue. photographic images, drawings, video and text works induce the spectator to mobilize emotional and cognitive resources, to come to terms with an experience of mobility and vertigo.
Widely translated essayist and performative lecturer for prestigious academic institutions (académie de France, roma; sci-arc, Los angeles|Lugano; milan polytechnic; università Bocconi and università cattolica, milan; Betzalel, Jerusalem), michele dantini regularly collaborates with national and international publications (Corriere della Sera, Abitare, Cross, Il giornale dell’arte, L’indice, Riga, Multitudes) and is professor in contemporary art history at the università del piemonte orientale. Lives and works between milan and Florence.
